KBTX-TV attended the Advanta Seeds Biotechnology Center grand opening last week. Watch their news clip for a look at the new cutting edge research facility where we will study the DNA of crop seeds from around the world.
“What we are doing is consolidating all our global research for corn, sorghum, sunflower, canola and wheat here in this research station. Not only for the USA, but also for around the world,” said Alberto Leon, Ph.D., Advanta Global Research and Development Director. Automated equipment will study the seeds’ molecular markers.
“Our major market is Texas, so we are focusing on the disease problems of Texas. We are focusing on the insect problem in Texas. We are focusing on the type of programs that Texas farmers need,” said Leon.
